A mobility scooter is a power operated scooter similar to a wheelchair. It is a mobility aid configured like a motor scooter. Mobility scooters are usually powered by battery. Mobility scooters powered by petrol are also available, though electric models are replacing them.

Mobility scooters are single-seat vehicles designed to help the mobility impaired. Mobility scooters empower the disabled and improve their quality of life. They help all those afflicted with mobility problems as a result of arthritis, muscular diseases or whatever else.

Given the wide array of brands, sizes and shapes, choosing the right mobility scooter can be a daunting task. Some of the key factors to be taken into consideration are transportability, the height of the user, the place of usage, storage and carrying capacity.

The scooter’s weight is an important consideration as the user’s weight determines its carrying capacity. Hence, it is important to choose the right scooter so as to avoid strain on batteries bringing down battery longevity.

The place of usage is equally important. If you are using mobility scooters in confined areas like a grocery store or a market place, three-wheelers or scooters with a small radius are advisable.
