Stairlifts offer freedom of movement and complete safety

June 14th, 2009

People suffering from certain medical conditions like rheumatism, arthritis and joint pain cannot climb stairs easily. Sometimes due to this reason alone a helper has to appointed for such people. A better and easier way to deal with the problem is to install a stairlift.

A stairlift is a simple machine that can be installed on any type of stair case. Stairlifts allow people to glide up or down the stairs without any physical effort. When installing a stairlift, a steel rail is attached to the steps of the stairs, on which a platform or chair is fixed. Powered by electricity, this chair or platform helps to transport people from one floor to another.

Stairlifts are available in two basic types - straight stairlifts and curved stairlifts. A curved stairlift needs to be custom made and is a bit more expensive. Curved stairlifts are useful for people who have unconventionally shaped staircases. Straight stairlifts are available readymade and can be instantly fitted to conventionally straight staircases.

Stairlifts are easy and safe to use and can thus be used by people of all ages. Stairlifts that are fitted with platforms can be easily used by mobility impaired people using wheelchairs.

So, install a stairlift at your home and provide freedom of movement with an added level of protection for your loved ones.
